Hey, i need some help. My hard drive was corrupted and I am trying to restore it to its last boot before corruption. However, when I am in the windows loading screen, my keyboard and mouse have their lights turn off and no longer work. I can't even use a reset off of a bootable flashdrive because the keyboard and mouse don't work during that. I have a second hard drive that boots up no problem, but my ssd is bluescreening and i cannot use the keyboard to try to fix it. I can use the keyboard and mouse fine both during BIOS and when i boot up my other hard drive. Any help is appreciated.

Have you plugged your keyboard and mouse on a USB3.0 port. Try plugging them into a USB2.0 port, if you have that option available in your system. Your PC case should have USB 2.0 ports in the front. If your system doesn't have any USB 2.0 ports, get into the BIOS and search for all the available USB settings. Try to find and enable a setting called USB keyboard compatibility mode or something similar. Finally try to convert, in the BIOS, all the available USB ports from USB3.0 mode to USB2.0 especially the ports that your keyboard and mouse are plugged into. If you able to restore your system get into the BIOS and revert all the changes you made. Good luck.

I checked and the usb settings are on full at post. It unfortunately still turned off my keyboard as though it were unplugged, when booting up both the flashdrive and the SSD. I did try turning off fast boot, but that did not work either.

I plugged into the 2.0 ports and my keyboard appeared to remain on. However, I was unable to load into safe mode by pressing F8 on the loadup screen for windows. I have windows 10, am I pressing the wrong button?

Yes Microsoft has changed the way to boot into safe mode with windows 10. For more info check here => http://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-safe-mode-windows-10
