So basically I just got a new toshiba laptop with 4gb of ram. I had a 2gb ram from my old laptop which i added to the empty slot. However, the laptop did not boot or even turn on ..just a light on the powerbutton .. I think the two sticks were incompatible somehow due to different clock speed, voltage could be anything . maybe i touched the ram with static idk. Also, when i removed the 2gb ram, the laptop turned on fine with the ram it came with (4gb). now i am worried should i return the laptop? have i caused any damage to the motherboard ? or anything would up over time now? or just a memory failure?

i think the 2gb ram i added was of higher voltage thats why there was a failure. have a caused any damage to the motherboard u guys think ..the laptop turns on fine for now i guess i am just OCD . Please any help will be appreciated

u think i should not return it right i just got it today... i really love this laptop but u think there could be a hardware damage to the motherboard or have i wear it out in someway?

hey thank you very much for replying. Actually i just got this computer yesterday and i can still return it, thats why i was just wondering if i have reduced the life of the mobo or the processor in any way by adding two incompatible ram sticks clocked at different speeds. I hope not because the computer failed to start with two sticks in. what do you say? thank you again
