Help please. Will a Noctua NH-D15 fit with some Crucial Ballistix Sport XT?

So, I need help figuring this out.
On a Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H, with 4 Dimms of Crucial Ballistix Sport XT, will a Noctua NH-D15 fit? Or will it not clear the RAM?

It should be fine, the noctua will fit into any atx board i think, so it's do able

The NH-d15 fits, BUT you will have to move the second fan up or to the front. Without the second fan, it will fit ram up to 64mm (see http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=68&lng=en). If you have bad clearance in your case, you will have to run it with only one fan (which is not that bad actually). I moved my second fan to the front (kind of pull-pull) and it works like a charm

Depends, the corsair vengeance ram is quite good, they have low profile versions of it as well so you'll be guaranteed that the cpu cooler and ram don't clash

I would try it out if you already own the ram. If not, go with low profile ram.

ermm.. you have a z97 chipset but a z87 board, i'd recommend you get a z97 motehrboard or get the i7 4770k instead otehrwise you will have some hard bios updates to do, but rest is fine

I chose the Z87 because the build will be to run OSX (Hackintosh). So, the Z87 is a more compatible out of the box solution.
With that in mind, should I replace the 4790k with a 4770k?

The bios takes care of that, not the OS. So my answer is yes, it will be able to run at 1866 Mhz.

The 4790K might work, depending on how long it has been on the shop's shelves, if it's quite new, then it ships with a new bios that supports the 4790K. And indeed it will not boot with the 4790K with an older bios.

I'm gonna check something for you and I'll be back. (Some boards can be updated without a CPU, I have to check if that board can.)

It seems that you can update the bios from a flash drive. But you should probably do more research.
