Recently, after I swap my Mobo, then reinstall Win2k. My PC had one annoyed problem. It is like this, normal boot to win2k, shut off=reboot, if safe mode boot to win2k, shut off worked. So, I have to shut off my pc manually everyday. Anybody has a solution, I will really appreciate.

This thread belongs in the windows 2000 section.

Check your bios settings , get the motherboard manual out and go through the bios setup section.

If it is problem from BIOS, why I can shut it off when boot it to safe mood. Any I will go through BIOS again, see if I can find something wrong there.

Try this, see if nt legacy apm support IS installed, but set to disabled. You can see if it is already installed by going to device manager. Have device manager show hidden devices. It should be listed under computer. If it is there, check to see that it is enabled.

Sorry, What is it, I search it in the device manage, I didnot find it. I had something like: ACPI fixed feature button, ACPI power button and microsoft ACPI-complaint system.

It's installed and turned on.

The reason I wanted you to check bios is to be sure that the settings were properly configured to allow power off by OS or what ever your bios calls it. There should be some settings in bios that include things like ..... "wake on LAN" etc.. in that section carefully check to be sure all power on/off settings are correct. your manual should be able to tell you how to get to the bios settings.

DO NOT arbitrarily change settings in bios. Get help if necessary because you could damage your system if you change the wrong things.
