Question Windows is using Microsoft Basic Display Adapter ?

Hey everyone so my cousin was messing with my PC when i didn't know it and now my PC is running Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead of what was on my PC i had AMD integrated graphics and i had the GPU tab in task manager and now i don't i have tried to re-download drivers and i still don't have the AMD integrated graphics i cant even download the AMD Adrenalin app and i can't play any of my games can someone help me please.

Usually the very first page of the BIOS tells you what you have.

You can also use an app like CPU-Z to identify the CPU and GPU-Z to identify the GPU (once drivers are installed).

I went to BIOS and it had my CPU listed correctly

Reset now, please. Then start Windows.

Run Windows Update. Does it identify any driver updates? If so, install all of them.

So i reset to default in BIOS and i have some windows updates

i backed up from my c drive then extracted it and then created a 8gb tab for windows then installed it to there then went to BIOS and reinstalled windows through there and it reinstalled windows

After all the updates are completed, restart, even if not directed to.

Then once in Windows, open Device Manager, view, show hidden devices. What all is listed under display adapters?

Making components go faster than their normal settings. I'll take that as a no.

In Device Manager, go to display adapters and select the Windows Basic adapter. What happens when you select update driver?

yeah no i have no idea how to do that the only thing i did is put my pc in priorities paformance

it give me a option to auto check for drivers or search computer for drivers

so i just asked my cousin again and he said he accidentally uninstalled the amd intergraded graphics when he was messing around in device manager

Lets try something. Also, via Device Manager/Display adapters, right click on the Windows Basic and select uninstall device. Restart once completed or prompted.

Run as administrator when opening the installer.

ok so i did that and i got to the point were io get the error and in automatically put the Microsoft windows basic adaptor back

I expected the Windows basic adapter part, but was hoping the installer would do its thing. I am completely stumped, aside from your CPU being defective (it houses your video adapter) I don't know what else to do.

I did reach out to the moderation team to see if anyone has any new ideas. If so, you'll likely see them join the thread.

Was your cousin trying to fix this same problem, at least sort of?

Once you have a USB drive tomorrow, I have only one other thing to try. Booting your system from a Live Linux distro. We can use that process (doesn't actually install the OS, just runs from the USB drive) to determine if we are chasing a hardware problem or not.

I am really thinking defect now, but try this first.

Open the previous versions.

Try downloading one of the earlier versions of the drivers, like 24.1.1. See if this changes any of the behavior.
