Whats the difference, besides the numbers.
I mean, which processor would be better and faster.

1.) AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 512k L2 Cache, Runs at 2.4 Ghz
2.) AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 1mb L2 Cache, Runs at 2.2 Ghz
3.) AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 512k L2 Cache,Runs at 2.2 Ghz

I'll assume that #2 is better than #3, but what about #1?

Can anyone help???
Thx in advanced

Choice 3 is really an athlon 3200+, they probably had it mislabled. Out of 1 and 2 the first one is the better choice. Because of the efficient onboard memory controller, the cache size isn't as large of a factor as the clock speed. The oppisite is true on the Intel side. The difference in speed between a 2.8ghz celeron and a 2.6ghz P4 is a large gap (with the advantage to the 2.6ghz P4.)

Also, if you plan on overclocking, choice 1 would be a better choice.

Amd does not keep it's cache too busy. When it's idle, it helps keep the chip cool. The larger die size is why. This does help a lot in OCing. A 1 meg cache chip will OC higher than a 512 chip. With the 1 meg chip, you can end up with the higher speed, and the extra cache.

I would just get the 3000+ because it is the same speed as the 3200+ in raw megahertz (not power as due to half the cache), and then you could overclock it to 2.4 or even 2.5GHZ. plus the 3000+ is as low as 165 bux

I dont Hate Intel, I just only Buy AMD, DUH!!!

I heard just the opposite that the 512kb chip will overclock better because it's less "sensitive" to speed changes than the 1meg cache.
