Help powering graphics card

Graphics card has an 8 pin connector. Only options I have left from PSU are a 6+2 pci deal or an adapter that came from graphics card with 2x6 pins. I have pictures but don't know how to post if that would help.

What GPU and PSU are you talking about?

I have a xfx pro 550w psu and asus directCU II OC graphics card

That PSu has two 6+2 pin power connectors for the GPU so it should easily run ANY GPU.

The PSU has two cables for the GPU. Both are 6+2 Pin connectors. The are for the GPU. DO NOT use any adapters.

What GPU are you using? Like the model?

The 6+2 connection is to allow for compatibility between 6 or 8 pin connectors on graphics cards. As tiny voices said, that connection is for your graphics card, so use that rather than going with an adapter.
