Hi, first time posting on these forums!

So, I built my first PC two days ago, and I haven’t really gotten around to using it until today (been busy with other stuff). Everything was working fine during the 2hrs that I used it in the last two days, but today while I was playing games (Overwatch, Witcher 3 etc.) my computer would suddenly restart itself at some point. The first time I didn’t think much of it, but this kept happening over the next hour or so.

I googled around for a bit, and I thought that maybe my power supply was faulty and not supplying enough power to the rest of my hardware. However, now it seems like it might be a problem with my motherboard, but this is just a guess, and I’m no expert on this which is why I’m asking for some help.

The problem:

My motherboard itself lights up when I turn on the power supply, but nothing else turns on after I try to turn the computer on (using the front power button). My GPU does not light up (which is also strange considering it's directly plugged into my power supply as well), my CPU cooler doesn’t turn on, and the back chassis fan doesn’t turn on when I try turn the computer on (both of which are connected to the motherboard).

My HDD and front chassis fans (which are directly plugged into the PSU) do turn on when I turn the computer on (which is why I don’t think it’s the PSU’s problem – please correct me if I’m wrong). I know that the HDD is on because I can hear it starting up when I press the power button at the front. It’s kind of strange because I can turn on the PC using the front power button, but when I hold it down to turn it off again, it does not respond and to turn off the PC I need to flip the switch at the back (which leads me to think that the motherboard might have problems).

My computer specs are:
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 using the stock cooler (AMD Wraith cooler)
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GTX 1070
Memory: 16GB (2*8GB) G.Skill DDR4
Power Supply: EVGA 750G2 750W PSU (should be more than enough?)
Motherboard: ASUS B-350 PLUS
Case: Corsair SPEC-ALPHA Mid-Tower Gaming Case (comes with 2 front fans and 1 back fan)

I am quite sure that everything is plugged in correctly, because the computer was working fine until today (although I did not test it in-game much during the past two days).

If anyone has any idea what could be going wrong, please help!

Breadboard the system and see if with the bare essentials that the system powers up. Have you made sure your motherboard BIOS was updated prior to this issue? You're going to have to be a little specific about the model of the EVGA PSU. To me it looks like you got a dud PSU, compromised in build quality and perhaps an RMA might be necessary though it's best you keep both the seller and the motherboard maker informed about your condition.

Hey thanks for the reply! My power supply is an EVGA 750G2 750W power supply (I've just updated the thread as well).

I actually did not check updates for the BIOS, but I assumed that it was already updated because everything was running smoothly on it until today.

I can try breadboarding the system later, and I will let you know how that goes.

Also, if it helps in any way I can confirm that the power supply fan is also functioning? I tried putting my hand underneath the case when it was turned on, and I could feel a breeze.
