Just this morning, I went to go turn on my PC. Then I noticed both my PS2 mouse & keyboard were not working. After 10 reboots, and making sure the PS2 mouse & keyboard were plugged in tight. It still does not wok. It works in Windows Recovery, but not Windows itself. BTW: I am using the on-screen keyboard for this, and my brothers USB mouse.

Solution

Yes that is pretty much the standard procedure.

Another approach is to disable (not delete) the components in question in Device Manager, and then to re-start the computer. Unplugging is not necessary. Upon restart, the computer will 'find' the devices and install them.

I first, went into the Device Manager, expanded the Keyboard section, and clicked Uninstall on the Standard PS/2 Keyboard, and I did the same for my Standard PS/2 Mouse. Then, while the computer was still running, I unplugged both PS/2 mouse and keyboard. Then I shut down the PC, while off, I reinserted both mouse and keyboard, then upon entering the Logon screen, both mouse and keyboard worked again. That is all I remember and can say.

Well thank you for that, I'll remember that in the future. I'm glad you commented so I can close this now. Thanks again.
