A few days ago this "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert media in selected boot device and press a key" message appeared on my pc when starting up. I have a SSD and a HDD which were both installed at the same time, and I installed the SSD with windows 7, then I upgraded to windows 10.

I have done the basics of checking the cables are connected. I've also checked the BIOS and the boot sequence only lists my HDD (which has no OS), but not the SSD, and no CD drive as I don't have one.

I think it might be a master/slave issue, but I have no idea. Any help appreciated :)

When you did the upgrade to windows 10 did you disconnect the hdd. you should take a look in disk management to see if the system reserved is on your C drive SSD and not The HDD

Sorry work took over for a few days.

Okay, I've double checked the cables are properly connected, and I've tried disconnecting the HDD and just having the SSD in, and the BIOS doesn't find anything at all, so I believe it's the SSD that's the problem.

I don't have another pc to put the SSD in, can it be connected to a laptop?

I didn't take the HDD out for the windows 10 upgrade, no. I don't know how to check disk management to see where the system is reserved.
