Hi! My z170a gaming m5 motherboard just fried and I would like to replace it with another motherboard that will use the 1151 i7 4.0ghz cpu and the ram that I have. I would like a motherboard that would be still upgrade-able as in run the newest generation cpu's but that is just secondary.

I like the MEG Z390 GODLIKE but just worried about getting something I cant use with my stuff. lol
I have the Intel® Core™ i7-6700K and the z390 says not backward compatible with older 1151's?

I am just nervous of buying something that will not work with what I have and be stuck with it I still would like a msi motherboard and I loved my m5 but i couldn't find it on newegg and thought this would be a good opportunity to upgrade even a little.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS If I left out any important information just ask and I will post it.

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

I am very sorry yes you are right I have the Intel® Core™ i7-6700K. I missed that.

Thank you very much someone else had suggested the 300 series and z370 but I just misunderstood them. So, thank you for your quick reply and this is the answer I needed.
