Hi guys, could someone offer some help.

My son has run into some difficulties and I'd like to be able to help him. He tells me that he was trying to reset Windows (Windows 10). It got to 66 per cent and ran into an error, he tells me it said there were difficulties resetting the computer. At any rate, he is now in the position that when he tries to restart the computer, it tells him there is no operating system installed.

He owns a legitimate copy of Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7). We still have the original Windows 7 rescue disks, I think.

Can anyone offer a way forward?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You should check if the optical drive is dusty. If it is, then simply clean it.
It reader may also be scratched up, is he trying to install Windows 10 or run the system?

Looking forward to help! :D

Thanks guys, SkyNetRising's solution was the one we needed, although we've now run into a persistent error on my computer while trying to create the rescue USB. I've now located an old Windows 7 OEM disk that I had which I don't think was ever used. Going to try booting up and installing that to see if we can get him going again. Thanks for your help...
