I recently purchased a Lenovo T730-28ICO Gaming Desktop while it was on a fantastic sale. Here are the important specs:
i9-9900K
RTX 2080
32GB Samsung 2666MHZ Ram
256GB M.2 SSD
2TB 7200 HD
I downloaded Destiny 2 and figure I would destroy the game in 1440p with these specs. I was very disappointed to find that my average FPS was around the mid 60's (compared to 140fps + others were reporting with these settings). I lowered the preset from Ultra to High and noticed a slight bump of about 10 FPS to mid 70's. I figured there was a driver issue so I deleted the display driver and reinstalled the driver from Nvidia, but still no improvement. I then decided to run some benchmarks to see if I could identify the issue and here are my results:
Heaven Unigine: (1080, ultra texture, extreme Tesellation, Direct X 11)
111.9 FPS (140+ vs what others have reported)
2820 score (3300+ vs what others have reported)
Passmark 3d Graphic Mark:
5470 (RTX 2080 model average of 15,577)
I know there is such a thing as silicon lottery and sometimes yours just doesn't perform as well but this is well below what others are reporting
I contacted Lenovo and discuss this issue with two different reps and after some suggestions (reinstall driver, update bios etc.) they said that this was not a hardware issue but a software issue and told me to go to software support. Issue with software support is that they will only help for a payment of $60, or a membership plan (I didn't ask how much this premium support plan was).
Anyone run into similar issues? What advice do you have?
