[SOLVED] HELP! Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB - Randomly slowed down drastically

CPU: Intel i5-7600 Kaby Lake
MoBo: MSI Z170A Gaming M5 (BIOS updated to Kaby Lake)
GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 Founder's Edition
Store: Samsung EVO 850 500GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz DDR4 - 8GB x2
OS: Windows 10 Home 64bit
Cool: NZXT Kraken M22
Anti: McAfee Multi Access Anti Virus

I give up... I've tried everything.

About a month ago my SSD just randomly slowed down. I was getting really good speeds. It worked just fine.

My Sequential MB/s and Random IOPS reads were perfect. My computer was running smoothly since I got the SSD back in 2017.

But... now...

Seq. MB/s:
Read - 1,191
Write - 1,090

Random (IOPS):
Read - 20,751
Write - 12,695

I've tried everything. I've taken all the steps that other posts have suggested.

-SSD is only 20% full. (Uninstalled biggest games)
-AHCI is on.
-Rapid Mode is on.
-TRIM is on.
-Firmware is up to date.
-System restore is on.
-Defrag is on.
-Write Caching is on and set to Better Performance
-Power Option set to High Performance
-Boot up set to the correct drive
-Updated windows
-Samsung Magician is up to date.

Like I said. My computer was fine up until about a month ago.

Rapid Mode is a mirage , just cache of memory. Disable it and see if it has really slowed to the true rated speeds of the SSD.

As above...turn RAPID mode OFF.
That is mostly reading the speed of your RAM, not the drive.

solid states do their own version of defrag ..hope you aren't using Window's Defrag or ccleaners version ?

I just uninstalled and reinstalled samsung magician which now is
Sequential
Read 529
Write 500
Random iops
Read 38330
Write 34423

But to the op why wood his have better seq's and lower on the iops

His numbers are all askew due to RAPID mode being on.
Can't really tell the actual drive performance with that still running.

So, I disabled RAPID Mode and now i'm getting these speeds:

Sequential
Read - 532
Write - 513

Random IOPS
Read - 13,671
Write - 12,251

Ugh... Nothing is helping. Ive literally tried everything but completely restoring the system. I don't understand whats wrong. Maybe my SSD is damaged in some way?

Also, i've completely deleted all temporary files, emptied recycle bin and previous windows updates. My SSD is only using 125gb out of 466gb.

Interface is set at SATA 6.0gb/s and i'm using a SATA 3 cable.

It was literally running my IOPS at like 100k read and write speeds just a month ago.

I did a virus scan but it came out clean.

One other thing I was just thinking about is that I kind of remember it slowing down after doing a windows update. But i'm not entirely sure.

I literally cant even open my web browser without it freezing for 10 secs and even as I write this to you my keys lag and freeze for a couple of seconds

Assuming thisis your OS drive, I would do one of these:

Using Macrium Reflect or similar, create an Image of the whole drive off to some other storage space.
Run the Secure Erase function from Samsung
Boot from a Macrium Rescue USB, and port that Image back to the drive.
See what happens

or

Contact Samsung and see what they say to do.

So I went ahead and just reset the computer thorugh Windows since I did not really have much on it that I cared about.

My Random IOPS speeds are the same.............

Yes.

It will absolutely and irrevocably wipe everything on that drive.
It may also return it to full performance.
