Hello all,
I recently built my first rig and am looking for a new monitor. I've looked on the forums for all the 1080/1440 and 60/144hz debates and everyone seems to have varying opinions. I am hoping to go 27" which I know means either 1080 @ 120/144 or 1440 @ 60. The part I haven't been able to figure out from other posts is which is better for my situation. I pretty much only play single player. I do play FPS games like FC4 and Borderlands, but mostly Skyrim, AC, Fallout type games. The BF4/CS etc crowd seem to favor high refresh, but in my situation, which will LOOK better? (Fully understanding that is a subjective question)

Budget: Under $500 USD

SPECS: 4690K, EVGA GTX 970 SC, ASRock Z97 Extreme4, 8 GB RAM
(Unrelated question, anyone know why I can't edit my specs or Sig in my profile?)

Thanks in advance! You all are always awesome

In my opinion you should get two of the Asus VG248QE Because then you have two monitors both at 1080p and 144hz but are 24" but trust me, you do not need 27" when you are sitting right in front of it. Also with the bigger screen the pixels will be more spread over the screen more. This is just my opinion but i highly recommend it.

Also you have two monitors for multitasking? ;)

EDIT: Sorry just have noticed it is a bit over budget

I already have a TV I was planning on using as a second monitor, because I pretty much just use a secondary monitor for watching videos. Was looking at 27 because I don't always game sitting super close to the monitor.
