Ok so I have a 1 Tb SSD and a 500gb HDD, I would like to get the best I can get everything and Im in the middle of trying to figure out how to set up these drives. Im new to pc building and am a little lost when it comes to SATA and RAID and so on... any pro tips. I have a gigabyte z170x Gaming 7 MoBo

Solution
1tb ssd as c drive (os drive)
500gb HDD as d drive (media storage/ backup)

Youre the opposite way round with drive space to most people , most people have a smaller ssd & a larger platter drive but really you have little to worry about.

If you've not built yet , make sure to set sata to ahci mode in bios , & only connect the ssd for the windows install.

Connect the 500gb hard drive only after you're up & running & partition / format from within windows.

Awesome info! This helps clear things up for me a little and help me see how to set this. I happened to have a 500gb HDD lying around and just decided to use it and upgrade whenever I feel the time might be right.
