Help setting up sound on a new build.

Alright, so here's my problem. I want my computer to automatically switch it's sound put when I put in headphones. I have a Gigabyte Mobo GA-Z77-DS3H and I'm just using the onboard sound. I have an HDMI connection to my monitor. So when I plug in headphones I want it to automatically switch instead of having to go into the Catalyst Control Center and changing my default audio device back and forth between the monitor speakers and the headphone jack every time.

Hi mate ,
Your board should switch automatically to your head phones when plugged in you will get a notification saying head phones detected and sound will be switched.

Yeah but it doesn't. I get a notification saying headphones were plugged in, but I don't get any sound from the headphones until I manually go into the catalyst control center and change the default audio device from the monitor to the headphones.
