For the longest time I have had pretty poor internet speeds. I have had a technician come by and change out my modem and it still doesn't improve. I even had him hook his laptop he brought to the service call up to my modem/ethernet cable, he ran a speed test and got around 56mbps. I pay for 50mb down, but when I speed test on my pc I get single digit speeds every time. I've asked for a lot of opinions from pc savy friends of mine and no one can seem to even venture a somewhat definitive solution. Well anyway I have been looking into getting a USB to ethernet adapter so I can try the internet connection through a USB port and see if maybe my nic card is the problem. Is this even a good idea or will I just waste money on the adapter and still likely have the same download speeds?
Some general information my isp is mediacom, I do not have a router it is straight from the modem to pc, and I have had this issue in 2 different apartments at the same apartment building, and finally here is a speedtest result http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4870384023 . Any helpful information would be great thank you.
