Hello,

I am planning on upgrading my rig (mainly my GPU), here's my current setup:
CPU: Intel core i7 4770k @4.4Ghz
Motherboard: MSI z97 gaming 3
GPU: MSI GTX 770 2GB
HDD: 1TB WD black
PSU: Corsair CX 600
SSD: Samsung 240GB

So I have either of the following three options,

First, wait for Pascal and endure the pain of playing new releases on medium 45fps

Second, buy a gtx 980Ti and a new power supply, then buy another 980Ti down the line when Pascal releases and the prices drop

Third, buy a gtx 980Ti now, and upgrade to Pascal when it comes around.

So what do you guys think, what's the best option?

I don't think option 3 is good at all. It means that withing a year you change a powerful gpu for a new one (talking about high end or enthusiast class) slightly better, where you will see minor improvements. Of course it has HBM2 A LOT of transistors and cores but 980 Ti is very very powerful. I think a 980 Ti can cover someones needs for at least 4 years. Option 2 has you with SLI with 980 Ti. That 4 years I said earlier, make them 5-6. In option 1 (which is what I am doing right now, waiting for Pascal to upgrade from a 7970) you wait a little longer, save some money and grab a high end or enthusiast Pascal which will obviously last longer. So I think be patient and wait for Pascal. In the end you actually have 2 options.
1)Get a 980...
Personally I think that you already have a good setup. But if you want to aim for 60 fps on ultra, go for a Gtx 980 ti. I've just had a look at pascal and it is a massive overkill. It's the kind of card you would use for 12k gaming. I would wait a good few years before buying a pascal card.

1)Get a 980 Ti and perhaps I get a second
2)Wait a little longer and get an overkill Pascal capable for 60+ fps at any resolution.
But whatever you choose you will need a better psu.
