All i need now is an ssd to complete my system.

I only need a 120gb drive, and I will only use it as a boot drive and some necessary tools and softwares like MS office, registry cleaner, antivirus, gpu and cpu softwares, monitoring softwares, etc..

Here are my options (all are 120gb):
Kingston sdd now v300
Kingston hyperx fury ssd
Samsung 750 evo
Samsung 850 evo

I dont exactly need the fastest, all i want is a durable ssd that will last a long time.

And is it alright to put frequently updating software like antivirus in an ssd? Also is it ok to turn off page files in my ssd?

I need your advice and opinion regarding my plans.

Thanks guys! More power.

if the difference from hyperxfury 120gb and 850evo 120gb is only 15$ i would definitely go for the Samsung, speed+performance+longevity bonus for only 15$ extra? should be worth it. atleast to me, even on a budget build

Either of the Samsungs. The Samsung SSD's are known for their speed and longevity. My Samsung 840's are 3...almost 4 years old. No issues with them and according to Samsung Magician, they are in excellent health!

Yes it is definitely alright to turn off the page file in the SSD. Frequently updating software like your antivirus is alright too.

I don't use HDD's anymore, all I have are two 512GB Samsung SSDs.

if you want longevity and reliability the 850 is 2x as good as teh 750,
since the 750 is aimed at teh budget market, it also delivers as such
but about any Samsung is solid, so even their budget 750 should be decent, but the extra lifespan and reliability of the 850 should be considered

yes, the 120gb 750 evo 35 TBW 3 years Limited warranty has half the life of the 120gb 850 evo 75TBW 5 year Limited warranty
they "perform" about the same, in speed and relative performance and such
the 850 again being a tad better, since the 750 is technically a budget ssd,
but the performance difference is not something you will/can notice, the lifespan and reliability might tho

TBW = TtoalByteWritten, how many times you can Write/"create" a file, delete it again, and write over, and such over and over again on teh disk, before the cells get used up and the disk is "dead"
1 TB = 1000GB (from a manufacturer standpoint), so with a 120gb disk you can fill i up and delete it and fill it up again
on 750evo 291times/ or 31GB per day 3 years
vs
850 evo 625times/or 41GB per day 5years

hope it helps clarify the difference in lifespan/longevity of the disks

^ the mlc nand used in the hyperx has a longer theoretical lifespan & more cell life( write usage ) than the TLC used in the Samsung.

In real life this makes not a jot of difference , both drives should easily outlast the useful lifespan of the PC you're building .

The hyperx is a decent drive if its considerably cheaper than the 850. If the price is similar then stick with the Samsung just for the extra warranty.

I would urge to go with a 240gb though mate in all honesty.

yea but you cant compare it between 2 such different disks like that, the Hyperx fury is a crappy disk compared to samsung and why it cost half as much as teh 850 evo
it might offer a bigger theoretical amount of writes, but all other stats suffer, speed and such too, '
but most importanly 2/3rds of the expected lifespan 1 million hours MTBF vs samsung 1.5, and it might offer up to 354tb of TBW, but tehy only dare to give it a 3year warranty, which is why they safely offer the 354tb tbw because they know their disk will die long before it could possibly reach that

yea completely forgot this
240/250gb disks are usually better price/performance/GB storage wise,
say a samsung 120gb cost 60$ you can usually get a 250gb for only 80$, 20bucks more but 2x the size and increased "stats"/performance, a more optimal drive price/size wise tbh

^ the thing is though - in the UK you can get a 240gb hyper x for not much more than a 120gb evo.
On a budget I'd take that extra space over speed any day of the week.
I wouldn't in any way consider the hyper a 'crappy' drive & in all fairness a 3 year warranty is not unreasonable - the only difference is its just not as fast

true for a "budget" disk its fair, and for some price is truly an important factor,
personally i always like the "comfort" a longer warranty and lifespan give tho, but thats just me, and the extra speed/performance is then a nice bonus
(even if it be a hard task to actually kill either SSD through normal write use)

In my case I really don't see the need of 250gb ssd, i have WD black 1tb to store files and games. I just need a fast boot device. I forgot to state that budgrt is also a factor because i am saving up for a mechanical keyboard.

I am gunning for longevity not the performance. In the Philippines the price of hyperx fury ssd is comparable with a 750. And the 850 is about $15 higher. Which will i pick?

I am used to a hdd so even a slower ssd will be a big upgrade in terms of speed.

850evo because of 50% more lifespan, 1.5million hours vs 1million hours on HyperxFury,
your drive will die before you reach maximum writes, so increased lifespan +warranty should be considered over the HyperXFurys theoretical extra writes
