Well, feeling air moving is a good start, how about a visual inspection of the vents w/ a flashlight? If it's a bit dusty, a few short quick blasts with the compressor wouldn't hurt. Do you happen to know the model of your laptop and would you feel comfortable taking it partially apart if needed? Maybe some new thermal grease is needed, possible the stuff installed by Acer "dried up" and isn't transferring heat effectively anymore. Also worked on a laptop recently that was overheating, turned out the be the HSF assembly itself was bad. It seem that the actual fluid inside the heatpipes dried up, as the fan worked fine, yet it would idle on the desktop around 80C and shutoff at 95C on the slightest load. Installed new heatpipe along with same original fan, temps never went over 53C idle.
