HELP! This can't be right!

So I just upgraded my CPU and mobo old system was this:
Athlon ii x3 455 (3 cores OCed to 3.5ghz)
Sapphire HD6850
Fatality 550w PSU
Asrock760gm-gs3 mobo
4gb kingston ram

I upgraded my mobo to a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 and my CPU to an FX6300 (which I haven't overclocked yet)
Everything else is the same. I got 40-50fps on high on BF3 with my CPU usage constantly above 96% now with my new cpu and mobo i get the same 40 to 50 fps with the new cpu usage never going above 60% What is the problem? I was pretty sure my old CPU was the bottle neck. And I know people max out BF3 with the same 6850 I have so what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help I get. I am disappoint 🙁

No, V sync was never on, I just turned it on and same thing: 43 fps on high...

test your cpu with prim95 blend test or some other benchmarking program...see if any cores fails...make sure ur ram is set to the correct timings and voltages in bios and test it with memtest.

Your new CPU is one of AMDs new SMT models, so 60% CPU usage means the cores are at 120% load, so it's 'gaining' +20% from the SMT.

In reality each thread is running with 16.667% contention, or a 6:5 contention ratio on the internal CPU resources.
- eg: They share a single un-powered FPU as far as I can tell.
- This is good for severs and throughput computing
- This is generally bad for games and any real-time application that requires interactivity!

The downside of this is that the resource contention on AMDs new FX series of processors appears very course, so I wouldn't expect a performance increase on their new micro-architecture vs their older ones.
- In fact it may even be a step backwards.

AMD claiming it's a 6 core / 6 thread processor is a bit of a stretch, especially compared to their own K7 (Athlon) and K10 (Opteron/Athlon 64) micro-architectures.
- It's really more of a 3 core / 6 thread processor in the eyes of a real CPU enthusiast.

In My Humble Opinion: CPU-Z should report these processors as having only half the core count to thread count.

Okay that's great to know that you don't like AMD but none of that helped anyone. And duplicate thread? No? You double posted if thats what you mean
