help to get ext drive working on laptop

Hello to all, please help me, my Argosy ext harddrive doesn't get noticed anymore on my laptop, when i first got it, i would turn it on and it was found straight away, but now nothing, i still get the on light on. hope that the harddrive is not broken. would like to say thank you to anyone who helps me with this problem. (afew hours later)I thank everyone who has read this, but i have sorted it out. I have a second ext harddrive, which worked straight away, then i thought if the electric cable would fit from no2 onto no1 drive, and it did, so i turned no1 on, and it worked straight away, so it seems i need to buy a new cable.

have you tired using it on another PC? Tried using a different cable?

Glad to hear you've found the source of the issue, you should contact your external HDD manufacturer's customer support and see if the drive is still within the warranty period. If it is, they could send you a replacement USB cable. Have you tried using the cable from your second external HDD with the problematic one? You should give it a try and see if it'd be properly detected then.
