I’m a NEWBIE!! Attempting to install 98 over 2000 on an old computer. Had a
boot CD, ran FDISK, now I’m trying to use the 98 install disk. (It is a full
version of 98SE with License Key Code.) I was told I should remove boot CD
after running fdisk, put in 98 CD and boot from there. When I do that I get
error msg that says “Disk boot failure. Insert system disk and press enter.
When I boot to DOS I can see the 98 install files, though they are on C:.
When I try to run the SETUP.EXE file, I get a message that states “Cannot
create a temporary directory. If you have HPFS or NTFS installed on your hard
drive, you will need to create a MS-DOS boot partition to set up Windows.
I’m lost! Would appreciate any help
