Solution
A BIOS update is not needed, and I would not even touch anything with the BIOS in terms of updating or downgrading. This can mess up your motherboard and potentially kill it, making you buy a new one. Addressing your issue with the booting in to windows, you might have a messed up boot device in your BIOS and may need to clear the CMOS. You can do this by unplugging your PC from the wall, then opening your PC case and locating the battery on the motherboard that is about the size of a quarter. Take this out and press the power button on the front of the case about 5 times. Put the battery back in and boot your system up.

On the note of the graphics card upgrade, you will only need to update video drivers if your power supply is...

On the note of the graphics card upgrade, you will only need to update video drivers if your power supply is sufficient. You will need to check that you have at least a 500 watt power supply to be able to safely run the GTX 960.
