[SOLVED] HELP! upgraded cpu and the screen is blank old cpu does the same now.

i upgraded from a ryzen 5 2600 to a 5600 and the screen was black. i found out i needed to update for bios for it to work but after putting in the old cpu to do this it does the same thing

Make and model of your motherboard? Can you recall what BIOS version you were on prior to dropping the Ryzen 5 5600 into the motherboard? Also, did you try clearing the CMOS?

msi a320m pro. cleared cmos and the same thing happens. i have found a few people with similair issues and it's ended with them getting a new motherboard. any motherboard reccomendations that would work out the box?

Can you walk us through how you cleared the CMOS?

If you had access to a CH341A BIOS programmer, then you could look into flashing the BIOS chip yourself, though you will need a donor system to run the software to flash the BIOS chip.

any motherboard reccomendations that would work out the box?
For which processor? The older one or the newer one? You might want to parse your full system's specs in order for us to get a full picture. To add, you will also need to mention your location, budget, and preffered site for purchase.

i took the battery out for 5 minutes. ithink that is how it's done.

i solved it. took out all storage devices and booted with old cpu which got me to the bios where i updated it and now the new cpu works
