I currently have the following

Gigabyte 970a-DS3 Rev 3.0
FX-4170
560TI
16gb DDR3

I initially thought about upgrading my graphics card but seems a bit of a stretch,im wanting to upgrade in stages so looking for advice on how to do this.

Im thinking of buying a new motherboard and cpu cheap as i can get that i can upgrade over the next few months but i need it to take my existing ram and GPU.

The other option is getting a octa core cpu though im lost with regard to if this will be better than what i have. The board i have can support

Or should i just overclock everything i have.

Solution
FX 8350 would be better than what you have but I suggest Ryzen.

Even a Ryzen 3 would be a good upgrade.

I suggest Ryzen 5 2600X and an X470 motherboard plus 16GB of DDR4 RAM.
