[help]Upgrading g2020 to i5 3570 on mobo h61

I want to upgrade my current cpu g2020 ivy bridge lga 1155 to i5 3570(non k) also ivy bridge lga 1155..my mobo is biostar h61mlv2 with latest bios and their web said it support i5 ivy bridge..

if i upgrade my cpu,is it just plug and play? Because they both are from the same ivy bridge family? (This mean i just need to put off my g2020 from the mobo and put on the i5 without updating bios anymore)

And id like to know the performance of i5 3570 on chipset h61,is it same as i5 3570 on "expensive" mobo?without oc..

ok first af all look at the"CPU Support" of the mobo, it said that it supports "Intel Core i5 Processor - 3570T / 3570S" (2.3Ghx / 3.1Ghz), so it needs to be one of them.

As for Plug and play, after the latest version of the bios was installed, will work (you might have to clear the CMOS for it to boot - only if it won't).

Things you shauld know:
* You should have 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz memory.
* The only difference between the 3570T and 3570S is the clock speed so a none S/T version of the 3570 might work.

About performance, the mobo does not have real impect on performance when changing CPU, the impact really comes when OC or when it comes to addons like SATA 3.0, USB 3.0, SLI or CrossFire, fan headers and many other tweaks or upgrages.


So you are actually good to go BUT only buy a T/S versions of the 3570 just to be sure, and if you think of upgrading anyway and i could help just say so.

Step 1. Power down PC regularly and unplug from wall.
Step 2. Unmount/remove the fan/heatsink from g2020.
Step 3. Remove g2020
Step 4. Insert i5 3570
Step 5. Apply thermal paste if not pre-applied to new heatsink
Step 6. Mount new fan/heatsink
Step 7. Plug back in and turn back on

But in my country indonesia,theres no 3570s or t on market,maybe there some,but i never see that proc..
So,this mean i totally cannot upgrde to 3570? Cos it gonna waste my money if then 🙁

My suggestion is that you look at the "supported CPU's" list at the mobo's website and see if you can find one that you like, then look for it in your country.
If you wont find any CPU that you like, I'll look it up for you. Just tell me
