So basically, I have had the same PC for a few years now, and I am beginning to feel its age. I purely use it for gaming. The reason I have decided to upgrade is I am sick of my poor performance in GTA V, and my main goal here is to be able to run GTA V in 1080p, 60 fps, most, if not all settings, maxed.
I have already upgraded from 4GB of ram to 12GB of DDR3 1600 (G.Skill Ripjaw Series) ram, and from my 500GB hardrive to a 500gb SSD (Samsung 850 EVO).
I am planning to keep my case and power supply if I can, but also want to upgrade my motherboard, processor, and graphics card.
I currently have an Intel i5 750, with an Asus P7P55D mobo, and a PNY Gtx 770 Enthusiast Edition. My power supply is a Corsair Enthusiast 750W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply.
I was thinking of upgrading to a GTX 970 card, i7 4790k processor, and an ASRock Z97 EXTREME6 mobo.
My question for you guys is what kind of 970 I should get (EVGA, Msi, etc) and whether the ASRock Z97 Extreme6 is good enough for the 4790k and the 970, and whether this build is suitable for GTA V on 1080p, 60fps.
As well, I have no idea what CPU cooler to get for the 4790k.
If you guys spot anything else wrong with my build, aka the power supply is not sufficient, or something like that, that would be awesome too. I'm not very big on computers, so I am very much relying on your guys' expertise. Thanks in advance. <3

Upgrade all the way to socket 1151 or you are buying obsolete technology .
The 6500 can be overclocked unlike previous processor families where you would need a K sku processor
Then buy a GTX 980 with the money you have saved from not getting the i7

I just got 12GB of DDR3 memory for chirstmas, so I'm not very keen on buying some more ram to upgrade to ddr4. Is it really so bad to be using the slightly older technology?

Not right now , but the next upgrade will be more expensive .

If you have the RAM though then stick with Haswell
