Hey guys,

Im looking to upgrade my PC slightly and fairly cheaply ready for Cyberpunk. Im thinking of upgrading my ram from 8gb to 16gb. Ive been looking online but im getting a bit confused as to what mzh i can use.

Ive been using this link: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z77A-G43/Specification and can see that I can use 1600mhz but I get a bit confused at the oc / OC, 22nm CPU required part

Would anyone be able to give me some guidance? Firstly is upgrading my ram a good choice? would 1600mhz be sufficient or should I go higher? am I able to go higher if suggested?

Ive been looking at something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00D5XA...olid=180APHOBV3JE5&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

my full specs are below. thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply that helps alot. Just to make sure I understand, basically i shouldn't really worry too much about the mhz when looking at DDR3? Lastly would you recommend me upgrading my ram to this to give my computer a boost for gaming? I install on an SSD, im happy with my graphics card, ram just seems like the next fairly afforable step, without upgrading the cpu / motherboard
Yes, no need to throw yourself off with really expensive DDR3 memory. Most modules work on 1600MHz and they are quite affordable. My 2x8GB 1600MHz Kingston HyperX Fury Blue modules cost me less than 50 EUR here in Bulgaria. Also, you will probably see a big boost in performance in AAA games going from 8GB to 16GB. The snappiness of your machine...

Hello!
The frequencies with the star at the end are OC. For old CPU's DDR3 RAM frequency doesn't really matter. The frequency back in the day wasn't as heavily utilised as is nowadays. I'm also on a 3rd gen intel CPU (i5-3470) and went from 1333MHz to 1600MHz when I upgraded to 16GB of RAM and there wasn't any difference really. As far as the 22nm CPU required, it means it has to be a 3rd gen Intel CPU, because the 2nd gen CPU's could go to 1866mhz only on OC, also build on 32nm lithography. Even if you get a higher frequency memory module it will probably have to be manually overclocked.
Hope this helps.
