My PC's set up is:
i5 2400
Asrock h61 pro btc
MSI R9 380 4G Gaming
2x4gb hyperx fury 1333mhz
Corsair 600W bronze
All these in a tower with many fans and great airflow.

I want to upgrade it. Change CPU, mob and ram.
I am on a limited budget. I am between i5 7640x and i5 8400 (about 150€ here in Greece). As of ram I am thinking of hyperx fury 2x4gb ddr4 2666 MHz. The mob will be the last thing I pick.
I would like some help as well as suggestions if any of you have.
Thanks in advance.

My thoughts would be the 8400 as it is a very good, cost effective CPU that brings you to the 8th gen and more importantly will allow you to upgrade to the new 9th Gen 9700, 9800 and 9900K CPU's when you are next ready to upgrade.

In terms of performance, the 8400 with its 6 cores is very good on the gaming front and more than holds its own...If you can stretch to DDR4 3000 all the better but 2666 will be more than fine. I would try to get a Z370 motherboard as they have BIOS releases for the new 9th Gen CPU's from Intel so will allow for an easier upgrade path.

Thanks for your answers. My budget is around 350€:
170€ for cpu
80€ for ram and
100€ for mob
As for the first answer I got, I am not going to upgrade the cpu again for at least 2-3 years. So I don't really care for future upgradeability. As for the second answer I am closer to Intel rather than AMD. As I saw the ryzen 2600 and the i5 8400 are pretty much equal.
