Hi i currently have a T3500 Dell Workstation, I plan on just building a brand new PC but was wondering what should obviously be scavenge able.

It's case, I assume I just just strip it of everything except the power supply (525w) however I don't know if my PSU is good enough for the new pieces I plan on buying.

Tomorrow i'm buying my friends AMD R9 290 for $150 CAD (Club SD)
I plan on getting either one of the faster i5's or lower i7s and am looking for DDR4 ram compatible motherboard.

I'm obviously going to buy everything else inbetween but wonder if there's any advice that you can give me to upgrade my computer into a gaming computer.

Here is a good starting build if you need to save more money lower the RAM to 2x4GB and get a slightly worse PSU although I always try and go overkill on that considering I've had one kill a some GPU's.

Hey I appreciate your help,

What graphics card do you recommend, I plan on making the switch to PC gaming and don't plan on upgrading for at least a year. I don't know if I want my friends R9 290 because it seems to not run very well with todays games.

BUDGET: i'd like to stay around 900-1200 CAD, i suggest paying well for GPU,CPU,Motherboard, and Ram and maybe going a bit cheaper with things like a case, memory, and I don't need a stoage because I had a 1TB hardrive with windows installed that i plan on just transfering over

Go with the system I have set but remove the 1TB HDD, keep the SSD though for windows and some games. Don't cheap out on a case as a half decent one only costs $50, save $20 and get a pile of rubbish really?

I'd probably buy the R9 290 used if it has been looked after and has a good cooler considering how much value for money they are.
