Question Help upgrading ram

Hello,
Son my computer has a 2 x 4gb kit of crucial ballistix sport 2400mhz and i wanted to upgrade it. The problem is crucial makes a newer modelo of my ram and i cant find the old one where I live. So should I get 1 8gb stick of the new one, 2 4gb sticks of the new one, or try a different brand??

does it support 8GB per slot? get 2x8GB kit

OK, so currently i have a i5-6500 and a gtx 1060 3gb, i have 8gb ram (2x4gb) crucial ballistix. I want to upgrade my ram to 16gb or more. The thing is i want to keep my old ram and i can't find any 2x8gb sticks of the same brand. Should i try a different brand?
