!HELP! Western Digital Hard Drive Does not show up

I built my new PC a couple of hours ago, it has an SSD and a HDD.

As i was about to install games I noticed my HDD was not showing up, I saw it when i installed Windows with my USB but now it disappeared.

So i unplugged and replugged the HDD to see if that was the problem, even moved it to a new SATA EXPRESS but it still wont show up and now Windows wont boot of the SSD even they it is recognised in the BIOS, the HDD is not recognised though

Please help me im pretty sure I didn't damage it as I was reading careful.

*NOTE* I tried having JUST the SSD in it but now it wont boot Windows but it os recognised, PLEASE HELP, do I need to reinstall Windows?

you really should have installed windows with just the SSD connected, it may have used the HDD as a the boot drive, but put windows on the SSD. (it's a pain like that)

That is really unpleasant. 🙁

It seems that you may have a couple of issues here:
- Your OS will not boot unless the HDD is plugged in/working. As 13thmonkey said, you need to install your OS when there's just a single drive attached. So, you can remove the HDD out of the system and perform a clean OS installation.
- There may be something wrong with the HDD or with the connection. Once you install your OS, you can attach the HDD with both different power and SATA cables to another SATA port. Once you do that, you can go to Disk Management and see how is it recognized over there. You may need to partition and format it. Then, it would not hurt to check the drive's health status out. You can do so it you run both short and extended DLG tests on it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=lUp7q5

You can work around it, but lets get a solid foundation sorted out, and it then won't cause trouble in the future.

My SSD is using port 1 and my HDD was using port 0, so I plugged in the SSD only into port 1 and I went to the installation process but when I go to select the SSD (note only the SSD is in) it says this "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selceted disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, WIndows can onl be installed to GPT disks"

I did wipe the SSD of the previous Windows Instilation but now I get this, I searched on google for the solution and it was to disable the EFI secure boot, I only had Legacy Boot or UEFI so I just clicked Disable. It did not work

I disabled secure boot, ill see if I can mess around with that. My mobo is a Gigabyte H170M D3H.

First it's a good idea to have the boot drive on the lowest numbered SATA port, so stick that boot SSD on the 0 port.

During Widows setup, go into the disk options, delete the existing partition(s) and create a new one, continue with the Windows setup.
