I am building my first gaming pc and have a budget of $950. I came up with this and was wondering what you all think. I need a new monitor and OS.

CPU: Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 PRO3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Dual-X Video Card
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU: Rosewill Capstone 650W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
Monitor: Asus VS239H-P 23.0" Monitor
Wireless network adapter: Rosewill RNX-N180UBE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Wi-Fi Adapter

I plan on playing a little bit of everything, but the focus right now is getting my foot in the door. I just want to be able to run any game. Building a PC that has good potential for upgrades down the road is more important to me.

Processors are, by far, probably the worst thing to upgrade outside of a total mobo swap, so I would spend less money on GPU and get a better CPU now if you're wanting upgradability into the future, since GPU are almost always better value per upgrade dollar. Of course, switching to an H97 board instead of Z97 may give you the extra money to move into an i5 without losing GPU power.
