Well this is my first post in the Tom's Hardware community so bare with me all :hello: . Anyways I've had a passion for computers over the past couple years and have finally come to a decision of building a computer of my own for gaming, I'm new to this but I've come up with a list for the possible parts for a game that I love called ArmA 2. So here it is and bare with me please:

Monitor: 17" 5ms Monitor(nothing fancy) - $79.99

Mouse: Already have a wireless one - $0.00

Comes out to be: $687.89 (before shipping)
Around: $719.67 (including shipping)

Also this is for those who would suggest another build for me if they think this one ^ isn't good enough or I should save :pt1cable:

Approximate Purchase Date: This summer (Around June to July)

Budget Range: $600 - $800

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com or tigerdirect

Country of Origin: United States

Parts Preferences: No preferences

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Monitor Resolution: Whatever a 17" or 18" has

Additional Comments: It would be nice for it to be quiet too.

I would like peoples opinions on what I should upgrade, downgrade, save money on or just any suggestions on what to buy to help me when I'm gaming too. I'm new to all of this so thanks in advance. :bounce:

Thanks for the reply. I'll think about it as time goes by, the i5 is a good pick and I've been debating on Intel and Amd for a while and haven't found a good choice yet.

Was looking at your $600 budget build and seemed like a good idea, but what do you recommend for a good cheap monitor? I've looked at newegg and tigerdirect but haven't decided where to get one from. Tigerdirect usually has a $99.99 19" available for purchase so I might go with them there. Where do you recommend I look for one? Thanks in advance.

So many choices...hmmm...I have time since I need to find the time to build the pc. This is probably occur during the summer and it will definately be a fun time for my first build and all. Doesn't anyone recommend I get anything else other than a computer when I'm setting it up? I'll be on a rug so there might be static, any suggestions at all?
