[SOLVED] Help with a heatsink

I am looking at a friends build, he a novice at pc building. I need some advice about his cpu bracket (intel socket 1151) . The bracket that secures the heatsink is like an x shape which is adjustable. (sorry i dont have the model or make coz he dosent have the box). Anyway, in either corner the are 3 holes, (which i assume is for different sockets), the screws for his socket go in the middle hole, but in one of the corners he has put the screw in the outer hole. Now i cant seem to move the screw into the centre hole. Im unsure how to get the screw out. Would be greatful for any help.

unscrew/remove the screw completely, move it to the middle hole, screw it in again

Yeah^
The screws most don't actually slide through all 3 holes. You need to remove said screw first, then re-insert it in the proper hole.
