Help with a new graphics card

Hey guys,

I have this current build:

MOBO: ASRock 970 Extreme3
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 660ti
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 Core Black 3.40ghz
PSU: 650 (possibly 750) watts
RAM: Corsair Vengence 8GB

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card to be able to run more games, as I find the 660ti has quite low performance. I like to play Skyrim and would like to play more high spec games such as Bannerlord (when it's released), the Battlefield series and other series' without too much of a struggle.

I'm looking to spend up to £150 on a new card and would like to share with you guys some of my choices.

GTX 780 - I was told by a friend, and saw a few posts about it online saying it rivals a GTX 950. Not sure how true this is.

GTX 950 - I was told this is almost as good as a 970, again, not sure how true this is.

My primary concern is that I buy a card that the other components "cant handle" and then I get the BSODs and the rest of the errors that come with it such as conking out randomly and overheating, etc.

So, TLDR:

1) Would a GTX 780/GTX 950 be compatible with the parts I already have?

2) Would you say GTX 780 or GTX 950 would be better?

3) Are there any other cards that you feel would be better to use?

4) On the card you recommended (if any), would I be able to play new-gen games?

950 is kinda weak card. not much faster than your current card.
the 780 is way better but it's old and power hungry.
so you really would be better saving a bit and getting GTX 1060. they are like 190 pounds for 3GB version.
You may find them even cheaper on balck friday sale or on Christmas sale.
Your CPU will be limiting performance of the card, so keep in mind that you need to upgrade it soon, otherwise new GPU is wasted money.
unless your PSU is very poor quality, you should not have any problem with new GPU.

What would you recommend as a decent upgrade from my CPU? Not too expensive.

There are 2 options with your motherboard for a CPU upgrade, A Phenom x6 1090T which is not worth it, Or a FX 83** series cpu which i would recommend in your case since its newer and can overclock alot better. But what is your PSU Model? Because these are power hungry CPUs.

used 4th gen i5 ~ 75-100 pounds + NEW compatible MB - 50-70pounds + you can reuse the existing RAM.
you are looking at ~150 pounds.
don't even try to upgrade to AMD FX6/8/9xxx even i3 beats them in gaming.
