My brother's looking to upgrade his PC and he's asked me to post his proposed build.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16gb DDR4 2933 Mhz
Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming ATX Motherboard

I have a spare PSU I'm going to give to him.
Formula Gold 750W

He's not aiming to upgrade anything else at the moment.

Can't you see any problems with this proposed build?

A Ryzen 5 3600 has a higher IPC(higher average FPS) than the 2700x.

My recommendation would be to go with that if he is only gaming and not editing or using it for other higher workloads.

This would also entail 3200MHz or 3600MHz RAM as well.

That would be correct. The memory speed actually does make a difference on bandwith starved Ryzens...
