My cousin recently upgraded his graphics card to the GTX 750 ti and he has this old monitor that "only" has a VGA plug in it. Not having the time to buy a new monitor, he just brought a DVI-D (dual link) to VGA cable.

When he tried to connect and run his monitor, it only says "check, cable connection" but he has already changed it three times at the store. So our question is; is his monitor not compatible and he needs to buy a new one? This is his pick a by the way "Benq VZ2250H" please tell if this is compatible, since this is the only monitor left in stock...

Also please pardon my crappy english, since this isn't my first language...

So the standard GTX 750tis have two DVI ports. One is a "DVI-D" which means it is digital only and won't work with a simple adapter to a VGA monitor. This other is a DVI-I port which includes both the digital and analogue signal in the same port and a simple, cheap DVI -> VGA adapter can be used. The latter is what you want.

A run-of-the-mill DVI-> VGA adapter like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5WW31F5623&cm_re=DVI_to_VGA-_-14-998-101-_-Product
And make sure you use the DVI-I port. If you're not sure which one, consult the manual or have a look at this (old but still relevant) page: http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/221/~/what-is-the-difference-between-dvi-i-and-dvi-d%3F
