Hey guys,

I received a card in the mail from a retailer I frequently purchase clothes from. The card came equipped with a 2" LCD screen, a speaker, and multiple buttons. It plays a training video about golf with the PGA pro wearing clothes by this retailer. I would like to use this hardware package for a 30th birthday card for my girlfriend.

I plugged the package into my computer to see that the video that came installed on the disc was an *.ani file. I have tried to install various files such as *.avi and *.mpg on the package that came in the mail and neither will play. My guess is that there is some software installed that only allows *.ani files to play.

Does anyone know about *.ani files? I was reading that they may come from NeroMix or NeroChrome or possibly from the Valve Developers. Can anyone help me create a *.ani video to install on the disc? I am certain this *.ani file is not a animated windows cursor file. This file is 30MB in size. I am seeing that cursor files are typically KB in size.

Thank you

You could see if it's proprietary software be replacing the .ani file with a standard animated windows icon. If it plays the windows icon .ani file then you know it's the same format. Then you could use an icon animator to compile video frames into a .ani file like http://www.gdgsoft.com/anituner/

I tried your idea with no luck. I have since learned that the mailer I received was from Americhip (http://www.americhip.com/). I called them looking for help with no luck. The .ani file is proprietary to the company. Bummed!
