Hi I'm currently setting up a system for a friend and having trouble. (I've done this a thousand times but not for the past year so ATA100 is new to me).

He has 2 IDE cdrom drives set on both primary and secondary IDE ports.
and the hard drive is set on the Promise UltraATA100 port.

In the BIOS i cant see the hard drive.. is this normal?

All I want is to be able to SEE this friggin hard drive!!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

thats typical... if the drive doesnt show up on the primary and secondary ide ports it proly wont at all.

u will need to install some drivers maybe...
or change the boot sequence... should have the option for a third party pci ide device...

Is that a Northwoody in your pocket or are you just eXPited to see me?

so the drive is going on a promise pci card? in bios select "SCSI" from the boot sequence. you have to make sure you install the drivers for the card before you put the drive on the card. win2000 installation takes care of this during the install. winme/9x i don't think does. if your doing winME/9x, first put the drive on the onboard ide controller, install the drivers for the promise card, then hook the drive up to the card and you should be good to go.
