Help With Build

Hi!
I'm about to upgrade my PC's hardware components and struggling on what upgrades i need most.
My current build:
CPU: AMD FX 6300 six-core
Motherboard: M5 A97 LE R2.0
RAM: 16Gb
GPU: GTX 980
PSU: Corsair 500w
Case: Zalman Z11 plus

Parts I want to upgrade: CPU, Motherboard, PSU

I originally wanted to buy and i7 7700k which will need new mobo and might be difficult to change as I'm not experienced with custom builds.
My other choice is to get a good AMD CPU but may have to change mobo too as my current mobo is out-dated?

Any help or tips for what to get is appreciated

What's your budget and your screen?

With Ryzen you're generally getting more for your money as you get a 6 core/12 threads CPU for the price of an i5(4 cores/4threads)

However if you're running a 165Hz screen I'd still go with an i7 simply as it manages to push higher frames.

It's also a question on what the main purpose is.
If you're editing videos quite a bit, the Ryzen is your best bet

Finally it depends on your total budget and local pricing
As mentioned AMD offers more for less dough but if the budget allows it you might be better off with an i7

My budget is around €400-€500, and I have dual monitors benq 60hz,
I do a lot of gaming, video editing and animation so ill be rendering a lot also.

specific parts depend on your location and where you're shopping.
but that's what I'd suggest for your needs
