I accidentally got a little bit of thermal paste onto my CPU/CPU socket .I've got a good idea on how to clean my AMD CPU however i would appricate help on the socket on the mobo

I was thinking of Taking off the socket cover (the piece of plastic with the metal lever) and cleaning the plastic cover and Socket directly using Isopropic alchohol .If i leave my mobo/cover to dry completely is this safe or is there another method?
Any advice on my method, other methods or tips on how to clean my CPU is all much appriciated
