hello guys and girls!!i'm new to this forum and its very nice to meet you!!

umm so i need some help with this!!as you can see i'm a total noob when it comes to overclocking processors!!so i went and read lots of articles about overclocking and now i got this question!!

my processor info!!

processor-core 2 duo e6320 conroe 1.8 ghz(4mb cache)
-multiplier-x 6.0(6-7)
-bus speed-265.39
-rated fsb-1061.43
idle temp-core 0-41 c core 1-42 c
max temp-(when playing crisis)core 0-56c core 1-58 c(sometimes 61 and 63)
motherboard-gigabyte ga-8i945m rev 2.x socket lga 775
chipset-intel i945p/pl/g/gz rev a2
southbridge-82801gb(ich7/r) rev a1
bios-award international ef40 04/25/2007
dram frequency-331.7 mhz
fsb:dram-4:5

problem is i dont see anything like overclocking in my bios!!i've heard that e6320 processor overclock well!!and you cant overclock without bios??is this true??also my bios is kinda outdated.could you give me a link to download latest possible bios version??and i have 2gb ddr 2 pc2-6400(400 mhz)kingston ram but its only running on 333 mhz??this motherboard is capable of 800 mhz ddr 2 ram upto 4 gb so why is this happening if you can enlighten this poor soul i'd be very glad!!
thank you so much for your time guys!!have a nice day!!

You should be able to increase the bus speed within the BIOS, providing that your motherboard will allow it. Obviously, I can't tell you exactly where and how to do it.

Do you have one or two RAM chips? If you have two, then your RAM is probably dual-channel. PC2-6400 runs at 800Mhz and if you're seeing 400Mhz (and haven't manually reduced the speed) then it's definitely dual-channel. That's not a bad thing; in fact, it's better.

If you only have a single RAM chip then you should be able to manually set the RAM speed within the BIOS. Again, I can't be specific as to where and how you do it.

That CPU is not unlocked. You cannot over clock by chaining the multiplier like most modern CPUs. Here is the BIOS link.http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=1906#dl

You can overclock them by changing the FSB. Be aware that FSB/BCLK changes will also over clock your RAM so be prepared to raise its voltage if needed. You should be able to set a RAM multiplier down to prevent overclocking your RAM too much. Just be aware of your RAM speed and operating voltage.

Hi, and welcome.

The only way you can overclock is to increase the base clock (bus speed in your list), but like JimF_35 said, it will also overclock the RAM as well as the PCIe slots.

My advice is not to go ahead with it. At best, you'll gain an increase of a few hundred Mhz but you'll wind up frustrated when the computer fails to boot and BSODs on you.

The RAM issue is either because you've manually set it to run at a lower speed, or it's running in dual-channel. I reckon it's the latter, in which case what you're seeing is perfectly normal.

no its not dual chanel!!also i didnt do anything with ram!!how can i set it to run higher?
