help with cortana please, she has no voice?

when i type in the search box and talk to her that way, she only responds with text and no speech/voice

do i have to have a mic/headphones for voice to work that way? if so is there anyway i can get around that and force speech on?

i have a gaming headset, and when i plugged that in and enabled "hey cortana" she spoke via voice/speech then, but im haveing problems with my mic right getting it recognized so i couldnt do anything past that

my mom and sister have a windows 10 laptop, ill try it on there to test as well

I guess cortana only speaks back to you if you talk to her via a mic

I just tested on my mom laptop too to make sure

Kinda lame ahe wont talk to you via speech when talking to her via text
