Hi! My CPU is getting really hot. To the point of stuttering in games.

I want to know if this is normal for a Laptop CPU. Fans all max, with another fan blowing cool air onto it.

It gets to a max of 84C, then downclocks. I don't know how much, but on CPU-Z, the score at the start until 30 seconds later is around 1230. Then after a minute, it's down to 1130. and it goes down all the way to 960.

I know its not normal. Maybe for laptops from 2010, but not normal.

Any tips would be great. There has not been a CPU replacement or thermal replacement from what I know.

Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00GHz x 8

Solution
For laptops, throttling is pretty normal, unfortunately. At 84'C though, that seems low. I don't believe a 2630QM will throttle until ~100'C

With an older laptop, it may be worth disassembly, a clean application of thermal paste & blowing out any dust from the inside.
