The best CPU for your current board is the i7 3770K. You would have to upgrade your motherboard to either a Z87 or Z97 to go to the newer Haswell i5/i7 4000 series or to a LGA 2011-V3 to go to the high end i7 5000 series.

That said it wouldn't help much. If you are gaming it would be better to go to a newer GPU.

right ok thats a plan mate iv got two 1x SAPPHIRE HD 7970 3GB Vapor-X Edition graphic card
crossfire graphics
1x xfx r9 280x 3gb graphic card at the min so what you think buy one better card and sell these, or buy a i73570k 🙂

yes 1080p mate maybe more in the future, so really to get a top cpu im going to have to buy a new motherbored what will cost me a bomb with the cpu so yea your right sell my cards and buy a better gpu i still might buy the i7 3770K first then get gpu after these cards run great at the min on crossfire im getting 75-95FPS on bf4 max out on everything on ultra if thats any good. thanks for helping 🙂

The question is... Why do you want to upgrade? You have a good computer. Your graphics cards can run in crossfire if you aren't already running them in crossfire. You have a good CPU. I know the 3570K is a little old but it's still a very good CPU. The only thing you would need a 3770K for is if you want to utilize hyperthreading for video editing or other heavily threaded applications. If you absolutely must upgrade I suggest you save up a little more money and go for Skylake. You will need a new motherboard and DDR4 RAM for the upgrade though.

Well if you are going to be running mostly 1080P then the best you would want to do is a GTX970/980 or R9 390X.

The CPU will help some but not by nearly as much as the GPU. I have a HD7970GHz and plan a new GPU even though I only have a i5 4670K (not OCed at the moment).

right i see ok its a gpu upgrade instead buddy what gpu are you getting pal cheers michael

whats Skylake sorry new to all this buddy still i take it its the next gen and like you said i would need new motherboard and DDR4 RAM for the upgrade what will cost loads, would this cpu fit in newer and better mother so i could upgrade my cpu at a later date or would i have to upgrade my cpu as well pal.

Skylake is the uArch for Intels upcoming CPU line. They will still be the same naming Core i3/i5/i7. They will be a bit faster than the current generation Core i3/i5/i7 4000 series and also will run on a smaller process node, 14nm, so use less power and emit less heat.

Skylake is set to support both DDR3 and DDR4, it is a transitional CPU much like Core 2 Duo/Quad was in 2008 that had dual DDR standard supports.

You would need a new motherboard as SKylake is going to be on LGA 1151 and your current board uses LGA 1155 (the amount of pins in the socket for the CPU).

Unfortunately the current motherboards are LGA 1150 so even if you wanted a new CPU now you would need a new board to run the current Intel Core i3/i5/i7 4000 series.
