help with cpu

hy folks.i have a hp 550 netbook with a celeron m 550 2ghz.as i took the laptop for nothing and looks in a very good shape,hardly used,i added 1 gb ram and i plan changing the cpu.these are the specs of the celeron m 550:

The board only supports following Celeron CPUs:

Celeron M 530
Celeron M 540
Celeron M 550
Celeron M 560

Those are the options given by Intel. other CPUs of the same socket may work, but they are not supported.

My source told otherwise. Might have been an older revision of the board or something. As long as the cpu works, it should give you more performance. Not sure if it's enough though.

No, a Pentium Core 2 Duo won't work with your chipset. Only the Celeron Dual Core T1400 will work.

See Chapter 1, page 1. There are 2 columns listed for processors.

One has the column with the GLE960 system board, and there are check marks next to the supported processors (all celeron).

The right hand column with the GME965 system board has the Pentium C2Duo processors checked.


i think that is the maximum i can get..acoording to hp folks on the forum...anyway should be way better than the celeron m 500..thx anyway guys
