I have 2 Windows 8.1 PC's and a Windows 10 PC. I decided to use the oldest PC (q6600 DDR2) as a Windows 8.1 File/Media Server. One Windows 8.1 PC can connect to it after I entered what I thought was the correct credentials but the Windows 10 PC will not connect with the same credentials. I just want to get rid of the credentials and connect to the server and access my share drives.

On the server or the Client (Windows 10 PC)?

here is the "hit it with a hammer approach"

go to (on server) networking sharing center > change advance options > all networks > password protected sharing > turn off

then on the folder being shared right click > share with > advanced / specific people > in the entry bar type "everyone" > click add > click share

that will make it so no one will have to enter in any credentials. this is how i have it set up at my house. i much prefer it this way.

but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure your network is absolutely secure! make your wifi password something like "0fDETfss@#!F$^GHH^!12" and make sure you have WPA2 encryption enabled. this method isn't secure at all and your files will be accessable by anyone who has your wifi password. but like i said, this is how i do it, and i have never had a problem

I did this and still, the ONE PC that I needed to connect the most keeps being asked for username and password! As soon as I click on the computer name, it asks for it.

After my last Windows 10 update, I get this Network Credentials popup window and entering the correct information I still can not access a folder on my Windows XP Pro computer!!!!! Windows continues to make my life HELL!!!! What do I have to do to get rid of this Credential CRAP?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Upgrade your XP computer (or at least make sure it's running SP3).
Make sure the folder you're sharing got right permissions (that is, there is a user with username/password, and the folder is shared with permissions for that user).
